Welcome to RainAhead

The project RainAhead has been designed to adapt to the effects of climate change in the City of Luebeck. It was supported by the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (support code 03DAS014).

The project developed tools for planning and heavy-rainfall-warning in order to reduce potential risks caused by urban flash floods. It supported the local municipalities' flood protection and flood management i.a. with risk maps, a warning tool web application and an evaluation of water-sensitive planning in a newly-built city district and several technical measures. Also the enhancemant of communication (both internal and with the general public) was an important objective.

Project duration was from June 2013 to August 2016.

While our flyer gives an overview in English language, further information on project and results (in German) can be found in the final report. In case of any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us.
